Powdercolour pictures by Helen Hartnagel ... [mehr]
I like working with powdercolours as they run fluidly over the canvas or other surfaces, depending on how much water one has used for mixing. Powder colours are made from ground pigments and can be mixed with water, they are relatively cheap and come in tins. They are quick-drying and opaque. The 3-dimensionality of oil paints cannot, of course, be achieved, but they are wonderful for strong, bright pictures, posters, childrens' work etc. One can work fast with a big, flat brush or sputter with a toothbrush, paint over mistakes and alter the mood of the picture in a flash. One can use them on thick paper, canvas, hardboard and glass. [weniger]
